What’s hot at AHA Scientific Sessions 2017

AHA Scientific Sessions offers the best opportunity to gather with colleagues from around the world in an exciting educational and professional environment. For 2017, we’re giving you more reasons than ever to attend. Below, find a list of the not-to-miss events taking place during Sessions.

New hypertension study

Following the release of the AHA/ACC Hypertension Clinical Practice Guidelines 2017, the AHA will provide eight hours of supporting education for general practitioners, general cardiologists and internal medicine practitioners. Join us on Monday, Nov. 13. The schedule will include:

  • 10:45 a.m., Late-Breaking Science Session: Latest Insights into Hypertension Management featuring the Chinese BP Trial, SPRINT Trial and GATEWAY Trial
  • 2  p.m., AHA/ACC Hypertension Clinical Practice Guidelines 2017
  • 3:45 p.m., Target: BP™ 2017 Update and Lessons Learned from Participating Practices
  • 5:15 p.m., Clinical Practice Guidelines for Blood Pressure Management: Next Steps

Frontiers in Science summits

These one-day, pre-publication-focused summits provide the opportunity for discussion on a variety of topics. Session formats consist of 10 minute presentations followed by lively audience discussion. Please note that Frontiers in Science Summit sessions will not be recorded due to the inclusion of pre-publication presentations.

  • The Arrhythmia Research Summit will explore cutting-edge research and therapeutic innovations in the mechanisms, diagnosis and management of arrhythmias.
  • The rapid-fire presentations of the Stem Cells Summit will cover key questions in the area of stem cell research and will allow you to engage in live discussions.
  • At the Thrombosis Summit, learn about the most recent progress in thrombosis research, bridging from basic to clinical science.
  • The Vascular Disease Summit provides an intimate setting for intense open scientific discussion that encourages “cross-pollination,” shares proven methodologies which may apply more broadly across specialty areas and inspires scientific collaboration.

Recognizing a milestone anniversary
The Fogarty International Center at National Institutes of Health celebrates a rich and varied legacy since its establishment in 1968. In recognition of its 50th year, the Fogarty Symposium will showcase the broad reach of Fogarty-supported research and training in three sessions (two moderated by a panel), and will conclude with a networking event. The symposium will take place from 2 to 7:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 14, in Ballroom A, Third Level of the Main Building of the Anaheim Convention Center.

Technology meets medicine

At the Health Tech Summit, you’ll hear about the latest trends and the future of digital healthcare solutions and health IT from the CEOs of GE Ventures, Microsoft HealthVault, Qualcomm Life, Verily and more. Another technology-focused event is the HealthTech Competition, where medical technology startups demonstrate their healthcare innovations before a panel of distinguished cardiologists, venture capitalists and industry thought-leaders.
