Learn cutting-edge genomic technologies

Back for the third year at AHA Scientific Sessions, the four-hour Genomics Boot Camp on Nov. 12 will cover the basic principles of genetics and genomics. Cardiovascular and stroke practitioners are encouraged to attend the bootcamp, which forgoes a didactic lecturing format and instead uses small groups to inspire active learning and collaboration.

Groups will discuss patient scenarios covering single-gene testing, whole-genome sequencing, cardiovascular risk prediction and pharmacogenomics. AHA/ASA Council on Functional Genomics and Translational Biology Committee members have invited experts in genetic counseling to serve as facilitators, who will circulate the room to guide attendees in discussions.

The Genomics Boot Camp is included in AHA Scientific Session 2017 registration, but because space is limited, we ask that you secure your spot via the Registration Resource Center. Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals are encouraged to register.

In preparation of the Boot Camp, please view the Basic Concepts in Genetics and Genomics CME/CE activity on prior to the event. You will be able to receive CME/CE credit for both the online videos and the Boot Camp.
